After only 11 days with the New England Patriots, wide receiver Antonio Brown has been released from the team after a variety of maladies.
Antonio Brown is a free agent once again. Less than two weeks after being released by the Oakland Raiders, Brown is once again hitting the market after the New England Patriots moved on.
Brown, 31, is one of the game’s great players. He is also one of the biggest headaches going. Now, Brown is being sued in a civil lawsuit for alleged sexual harassment and rape by former trainer Britney Taylor, who met him during their collegiate days at Central Michigan.
Then, earlier this week, Brown was the subject of an investigative Sports Illustrated piece by Robert Klemko. In the story, a woman who worked on a freelance painting project for Brown claimed she was sexually harassed. She was then the subject of alleged texts on Wednesday from Brown, who sent menacing messages involving a picture of the woman’s children.
Brown is allowed to sign with any team, although an NFL suspension from commissioner Roger Goodell could be coming. If he’s placed on the Commissioner’s Exempt list, Brown is paid but will not be allowed to practice or play with any team.
However, Brown is available to sign even if he’s on the list. This happened last year when the Kansas City Chiefs released Kareem Hunt on the Exempt List, only to be signed in the offseason by the Cleveland Browns.
