Justin Houston used to play for the Kansas City Chiefs. Now he’s with the Indianapolis Colts. He let the Chiefs know how he feels about it after this stop.
Justin Houston was a four-time Pro Bowler with the Kansas City Chiefs. He spent his first eight years in the NFL out of Georgia playing for Kansas City, leading the NFL in sacks in 2014 and making First-Team All-Pro. However, he was cut back in March by the Chiefs and ended up signing with the Indianapolis Colts.
So of course, Houston was going to get up for his return to Arrowhead Stadium. The Chiefs were hosting the Colts on Sunday Night Football in Week 5. Kansas City was a perfect 4-0 entering play, while the Colts were only 2-2 through their first four games of the year. The Chiefs were a significant home favorite in this ball game, but Houston’s Colts certainly made a game of it.
Up 16-10 just outside of five minutes remaining in the ball game, Houston made a big stop on fourth down to force a Kansas City turnover on downs. He would then proceed to turn to the Chiefs bench and began to tell them what’s up.
The Colts would add another field goal to make it 19-10 after that turnover on downs by the Chiefs, but Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs would do their best to respond. The Chiefs would make it interesting with their two-minute drill, but already being down two scores made it too far out of reach for Kansas City to stay perfect. The Colts won 19-13 after a Kansas City field goal.
Of course, Houston may still have friends on the Chiefs roster from his eight years with the franchise. However, he does seem to harbor hard feelings for the organization, as the Chiefs did release him after eight years of service.
With this win, the Colts move into a first-place tie with the Houston Texans for first place in the AFC South. The Chiefs are still in first place in the AFC West, but the Oakland Raiders are now only one game back at 3-2 after their thrilling road victory over the Chicago Bears in London.
Truthfully, nobody goes undefeated during the regular season. Even one of the better teams in the league like the Chiefs will lose a couple of games each year.
It happens, but for the offense to struggle this badly of late, there has to be a real concern for Andy Reid’s team. You have the best quarterback in the league and you’re struggling to throw for touchdowns against presumably lesser competition. Regardless, this was a big win for the Colts and one Frank Reich’s team can certainly build on. The Chiefs will have to pick up the pieces here.
