Tyreek Hill is making a huge difference for the Chiefs

Kansas City Chiefs

Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs have a lot of offensive weapons, but the return of Tyreek Hill has given Kansas City a massive boost against the Texans.

The Chiefs haven’t struggled to score points this season, but that doesn’t mean Patrick Mahomes and company haven’t really missed Tyreek Hill. The importance of the explosive wide receiver’s return to the Kansas City lineup has been immediately evident in their game against the Texans.

Hill’s 46-yard touchdown grab gave the Chiefs an early 7-0 lead over the Texans. The play was a terrific example of just how important he is to Andy Reid’s offense. He turned an underthrown ball from Mahomes into a big touchdown reception. Hill may only be 5-foot-10 but he still managed to jump over two Texans’ defenders to turn a third down and 21 situation into a big score for his team.

With all due respect to Mecole Hardman, he wasn’t able to inspire fear in opposing defenses like Hill does in the starter’s absence. Hill is just a unique weapon for the Kansas City offense. Lots of wide receivers in the NFL tout themselves as players who can turn ordinary plays into touchdowns, but it’s actually true in Hill’s case. He’s precisely the sort of receiver that keeps opposing defensive coordinators up at night.

Chiefs fans should look for Hill to continue to see a ton of action against the Texans. This game is likely going to be a shootout which means that Kansas City will need to use all of their weapons to come out on top.

Even when Hill doesn’t see the football, he still has a special ability to create space for his offensive teammates. He’s a weapon for the Chiefs in both theory and reality. Unfortunately for the Texans’ secondary, he already looks to be up and running in his first game back from injury.
