Steelers fans start a GoFundMe for Maurkice Pouncey following Myles Garrett incident

A Steelers fan started a GoFundMe for Maurkice Pouncey who was seen defending his quarterback against Myles Garrett on Thursday night.

Fans have pretty much already agreed that what Cleveland Browns edge rusher Myles Garrett did to Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Mason Rudolph was totally out of line. Under no circumstance should a player be removing another player’s helmet and then using it as a weapon against him. But Steelers fans have also joined together to support a third man — Steelers center Maurkice Pouncey who was seen defending his teammate during the attack.

Steelers Nation has even gone so far as starting a GoFundMe to help pay the fines that he’ll probably receive from the NFL for his actions on Thursday night.

The account is set with a $50,000 goal and was created by Justin McGonigle. The call to action reads, “[Steeler Nation] Browns Defensive end Myles Garrett (scumbag) assaulted Mason Ruldoph following a scrum when Garrett threw Rudolph to the ground late on a pass with 8 seconds left. He hit Rudolph with his helmet after he ripped it off his head. Steelers center Maurkice Pouncey jumped into the action to defend his QB and surely will be fined an unreasonable amount. So SteelerNation let’s raise as much as we can to help Pouncey for doing the absolute right thing.”

That fan pretty much summed it up, didn’t he?

Oh, and there’s already some sizeable donations rolling in.

At press time there was no punishment set for any of the parties involved but it’s likely a season-ending suspension and a hefty fine for Garrett.
