With the injury sustained by Tua Tagovailoa in Alabama’s win this Saturday, it could lead to the former No.1 prospect falling out of the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft.
The NFL season has been quite the roller coaster, as teams have come out of nowhere to become playoff contenders, and some are still looking for their first win entering Week 12. The Cincinnati Bengals once again fought hard on Sunday, falling to the Oakland Raiders, and at 0-10, they are the front-runners to land the No. 1 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.
With that said, here is our latest 2020 NFL mock draft with the draft order from tankathon.com after the Monday Night Football matchup between the Kansas City Chiefs and Los Angeles Chargers.
Joe Burrow
Quarterback, Cincinnati Bengals
In another game where the Cincinnati Bengals showed a lot of grit, the only winless team in the NFL was still on the wrong end of the outcome in Oakland on Sunday. The Raiders, who were double-digit favorites in the game, needed a fourth quarter field goal to go up by seven, and a Ryan Finley interception sealed the victory for the Silver and Black.
Staying with the quarterback position, while Finley has played well in his first two NFL starts, Zac Taylor and company will look to press the reset button next April. Finley, who was a fourth round pick of the team in 2019, could stay on as the backup moving forward, but it should be the Joe Burrow show if the team ends up with the No. 1 overall pick.
During the 2019 college football season, Burrow has played like the front-runner for the Heisman Trophy, and is without question the No. 1 prospect in the 2020 NFL Draft. Taylor is a tremendous offensive mind, and they have some weapons at running back, so adding a franchise quarterback at No. 1 overall makes a lot of sense in 2020.
Andrew Thomas
Offensive Tackle, Washington Redskins
It is going to be the Dwayne Haskins show from here on out for the Washington Redskins, and for better or worse, they appear to have their quarterback of the present, and the future. Washington used their first round pick in 2019 to grab Haskins, who was fresh off a 50-touchdown season as the quarterback for Ohio State, and so far, he has looked like a rookie under center.
With Haskins entrenched at quarterback, the Redskins need to go out and get him some protection moving forward. It is clear that offensive tackle Trent Williams is never going to play for the franchise again, so with the No. 2 overall pick, the Redskins should tab Andrew Thomas, the best offensive tackle prospect in this draft class.
This is a franchise that has a long way to go in terms of building up the roster, but if Haskins can round into the player they are hoping he can, they should be good to go at the most important position in sports. Thomas could be that anchor on the offensive line that they are missing with Williams gone, and could protect Haskins’ blindside for the foreseeable future.
