New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley is having himself a phenomenal fantasy football week, just when everybody needed him to do the most in Week 16.
Week 16 in the NFL means it’s championship week in fantasy football. While his New York Giants have been one of the worst teams in football this year, running back Saquon Barkley is having himself quite the fantasy day vs. the division-rival Washington Redskins. He is poised for a record-setting day on the most important fantasy day of the year.
At halftime of the Giants’ Week 16 game vs. Washington, Barkley had nine carries for 126 yards and a 67-yard touchdown run. He also had a 33-yard touchdown reception from quarterback Daniel Jones in the first half. In PPR leagues this has given Barkley an otherworldly 28.9 fantasy points in the first half vs. Washington. Who knows how many points he’ll end up with?
No, neither the Giants or the Redskins are playing for much of anything in this ball game other than pride and draft positioning in the 2020 NFL Draft. The loser of this NFC East rivalry game will likely end up with the No. 2 overall pick and the right to draft defensive end Chase Young out of The Ohio State University.
Barkley is doing everything in his power to make sure Young starts for a division rival next year. The good news for the Giants in this ball game is that Jones is back under center after having missed the last few due to injury. Going forward, this duo will be the reason the Giants win games on the offensive side of the ball. This could be a sign of more good things to come with the G-Men.
If you have Barkley starting for you at RB1 in the championship game of your fantasy league, he will likely be the reason you end up winning it all. What a time to have a performance like this!
