Deshaun Watson gave us his signature moment to beat Bills

Facing a double-digit deficit at halftime, Deshaun Watson gave us all his signature moment with his first career playoff win.

Deshaun Watson has been here before. At Clemson, he had taken the ball in a must-score position on the game’s biggest stage and delivered. Yet, his early-career playoff performances in the NFL had been forgettable.

Until now. In a game that was tough to watch, Watson willed his team to a 22-19 overtime win against the Buffalo Bills in Saturday night’s Wild Card matchup in Houston.

After an abysmal first half in which he threw for only 49 yards on 6-of-8 passing, Watson stormed back in the second half and finished the night with 247 passing yards, 55 rushing yards and one score a piece through the air and on the ground.

Watson was a warrior all night. Under constant pressure, he stood tall in the pocket and embraced contact in order to make plays.

Although, Watson saved his best play for last, when he completed a 34-yard pass to Taiwan Jones that set up the game-winning field goal after he miraculously evaded what would have been a drive-threatening sack by two Bills defenders.

That specific play was how the game had to end. A big play by a clutch player when the stakes are at the highest.

Saturday night’s game showed us the player that Watson is. No matter the score, no matter how much he has been beaten up in game, he is going to show up and continue to play.

The game may not have been pretty, but watching this potential superstar in the making compete down after down was marvelous to watch.

Now, Watson and the Texans will pack their stuff and perhaps head to Baltimore for the Divisional round next weekend. This would be the second meeting between the two at the same venue. On Nov. 17, the Ravens routed the Texans 41-7.
