Fantasy POV: Chiefs will beat 49ers 28-23 in Super Bowl LIV

Fantasy Football, Kansas City Chiefs, San Francisco 49ers, Super Bowl

The Kansas City Chiefs will snap a 50-year drought and beat the San Francisco 49ers, 28-23, in Super Bowl LIV (54) on Sunday, February 2 in Miami, Florida.

The Chiefs have not won a Super Bowl since 1970, when they beat the Minnesota Vikings, 23-7, in the final game pitting the American Football League (AFL) champion against the National Football League (NFL) champion.

Let’s use the fantasy football point of view (POV) articles to support the selection of the Kansas CIty Chiefs as the winning team in Super Bowl LIV.

Chiefs QB Mahomes primed for great game

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has all the tangibles and intangibles necessary to win Super Bowl LIV (54).  He completes 2 out of every 3 pass attempts, is  just 598 yards away for smashing through the 10,000 passing yards barrier and his touchdown-to-interception ratio is 4.22-to-one.  (Mahomes has thrown 76 touchdowns and 18 interceptions as a starter for Kansas City.)

Mahomes is primed to have a big game.  He has already proven this postseason he can lead his team from behind to victory.  It might be a nice change if the Chiefs led from the outset and won their first Super Bowl since 1970.

49ers have superior running game

San Francisco uses a combination of three running backs in their rushing game.  Their leading rusher is Raheem Mostert , who burned the Green  Bay Packers for 220 yards rushing and four touchdowns in the 49ers’ 37-20 NFL Championship victory.  Mostert  was so effective running the ball against the Packers that San Francisco quarterback Jimmy Garopollo only attempted 8 passes in the game. This make Mostert the safer back for DFS.

San Francisco has been impressive in getting their running game going in the playoff games prior to the Super Bowl.  In fantasy football, the Chiefs defense against the run is average.  If the 49ers are to win Super Bowl LIV (54), they will need the dominating running game and defense to control the tempo and the time of possession.

Watkins gives Chiefs edge at receiver

When The playoffs began, the Texans and TItans’ defenses could not cover Kansas City wide receiver Sammy Watkins.  In two playoff games, he was targeted 14 times for 9 catches, 190 yards receiving and one touchdown.  Only Kansas City tight end Travis Kelce was targeted more (16 times) than Watkins. That makes Watkins a nice play in DFS for Sunday.

It will be like a chess match between the offenses and defenses in Super Bowl LIV (54).  Kelce
and Kittle  will neutralize each other.  In the end, the difference will be Patrick Mahomes’ ability to find open receivers and get the ball to them.

Edge goes to 49ers defense

The strength of the San Francisco 49ers is their defensive line.  The near impossible task for the Chiefs’ offensive line is to neutralize the pressure applied by Bosa and teammates Dee Ford, DeForest Buckner and Arik Armstead.

The 49ers’ defensive line has proven they can pressure their opponents into making mistakes.  They should win this battle against the Chiefs “O” line and quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

Butker gives Chiefs kicking advantage

Kansas City’s Harrison Butker was fantasy football’s most productive kicker during the 2019 season, according to the ESPN FFL PPR scoring system.   He averaged 10.8 fantasy football points per game. That means Butker  is a strong option in daily fantasy games for the Super Bowl.

 ADVANTAGE – Kansas City Chiefs

Next: Dallas needs to use Elliott more in passing game

After reviewing the five key areas typically tracked by fantasy football leagues, the best play for DFS in Sunday’s Super Bowl LIV (54) is the Kansas City Chiefs.  Patrick Mahomes will be the game’s MVP and, if you are looking for DFS sleepers, check out Deebo Samuel of the 49ers and Mecole Hardman of the Chiefs.
