The Pittsburgh Steelers need help on both sides of the ball, and they get more weapons for Big Ben in this 2020 NFL Draft seven round mock.
The Pittsburgh Steelers put together a pretty good 2019 season all things considered. After Ben Roethlisberger went down in week two against Seattle, Pittsburgh rode the tandem of Devlin Hodges and Mason Rudolph. The Steelers relied heavily on their defense in 2019, especially after acquiring stud safety Minkah Fitzpatrick from the Dolphins by giving up their first round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.
Fitzpatrick keyed the emergence by making plays at all levels of the field. T.J. Watt was excellent once again, Bud Dupree broke out, and the secondary played better with Steven Nelson and Joe Haden at corner. The Steelers led the league in sacks, finished second in interceptions, sixth in points allowed per game, and fifth in points allowed per game.
With a good defense an Roethlisberger returning, this team should have no trouble pushing for the playoffs. They can still add a few pieces in the draft to fill out the roster and make themselves a contender. Let’s look at who they could select in the 2020 NFL Draft.

Josh Uche

The Steelers have their first selection in the second round, and they’ll have plenty of options to address their top needs. One of those needs could end up being edge rusher if Dupree leaves in free agency.
Josh Uche would be a great addition to this defense. Uche looked great at the Senior Bowl rushing the passer and showed enough quickness to hang in coverage. In a zone blitz scheme that the Steelers enjoy running, Uche would fit in well to rush on the outside and drop into shallow zones. He may get limited reps in year one, but Uche has potential to become an every down player.
