It’s a franchise that was busier than usual during the free agency period a year ago. Who could the Green Bay Packers being eyeing in mid-March?

It was quite the turnaround this past season in Titletown.

Fresh off two straight losing campaigns for the first time since the 1990 and ‘91 seasons, new head coach Matt LaFleur led the Green Bay Packers to a 13-3 finish and their first NFC North title since 2016.

The club had its share of growing pains but proved to be resourceful, sweeping all of their divisional rivals. While the team wasn’t playing its best football down the stretch, quarterback Aaron Rodgers managed to rescue the team on occasion. The Packers held off the Seattle Seahawks in the NFC Divisionals, but for the second time in 2019, proved no match for the Super Bowl-bound San Francisco 49ers.

Last offseason, the organization dipped into free agency a little heavier than usual. Will that be the case again this year despite some salary cap limitations (via Spotrac)? And if that’s the intent, could the following five potential free agents be on the organization’s radar at bargain prices?

5. P.J. Williams (New Orleans Saints)

In a division when you’re dealing with the likes of wide receivers such as Stefon Diggs, Adam Thielen, Allen Robinson and Kenny Golladay, you can’t have enough quality cornerbacks. In recent years, the Packers have spent their share of draft choices on the secondary. But this offseason, veteran corner Tramon Williams will be entering his 13th NFL season and it will be interesting to see if the organization brings him back.

If the 36-year-old performer does move on, New Orleans’ P.J. Williams may be an economical solution. The 26-year-old has seen plenty of action these past three seasons, picking off four passes over that stretch. Of course, the Packers may also want to add to their secondary via the draft, which has been their method of operation in recent years.
