The Indianapolis Colts aren’t changing their traditional jerseys, but they have updated their wordmark and secondary logo.
The Indianapolis Colts are making changes.
After years of going without a single alteration to their brand, the Colts decided to move into the new decade ahead with a fresh look.
Thankfully, ownership didn’t lose its mind and alter the uniforms in any meaningful way (more on that in a second). However, there is a new secondary logo and a new wordmark. Both can be seen in the video below.
The secondary logo features the outline of Indiana with the letter “C,” consistent with the new wordmark. As for the wordmark, it’s more of a block style instead of the old, bulkier “COLTS” which has been in use since the team’s Baltimore days.
As for the uniforms, there are a few slight modifications. The numbers are going back to the older style, worn by greats such as Lenny Moore, Raymond Berry, Art Donovan, Gino Marchetti and Johnny Unitas. There isn’t a big difference, but it’s a minor upgrade to an already fantastic look.
The team also added the secondary logo to the back of the neckline, and put the new “COLTS” wordmark on the nose-bumper of the helmet.
Indianapolis is only one of many teams either altering their bran or completely revamping it. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Atlanta Falcons have already showcased their new duds, while the New England Patriots, Cleveland Browns and Los Angeles Chargers still promise to do so. The Los Angeles Rams have unveiled a new logo and wordmark, but their jersey changes haven’t been seen yet.
