Tim Tebow savagely roasted the New York Jets on Easter

Former NFL quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow apparently roasted the New York Jets during an Easter sermon, and that’s hilarious.

Sometimes you have to laugh. Even if you’re a New York Jets fan, Tim Tebow should have you chuckling.

According to Tebow’s Instagram Live, Tebow talked during an Easter sermon about being traded to the Jets from the Denver Broncos during the 2012 offseason. His thoughts on the matter? “That didn’t work out for anybody. When’s the last time a Jets trade worked out?”

If you remember, Tebow was coming off one of the more magical years in NFL history. Despite posting very mediocre stats (1,729 passing yards, 48.5 completion percentage), the two-time national champion at the University of Florida led the Broncos to an AFC West title. Then, Tebow engineered a stunning upset of Ben Roethlisberger and the Pittsburgh Steelers in the AFC Wild Card round.

However, Tebow was defat by general manager John Elway the following spring when Elway was able to secure Peyton Manning in free agency. New York gave up fourth and sixth-round picks to Denver, in exchange for Tebow and a seventh-round choice.

The buildup was absurd in the Big Apple for Tebow. The Jets were trying to rebound from missing the playoffs after reaching the AFC Championship Game in consecutive seasons. However, Tebow never carved out a role with New York under head coach Rex Ryan. Tebow’s career effectively ended with Gang Green, and the Jets are still trying to get back to the postseason almost a decade later.
