One of the NFL schedule leaks has Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs meeting Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens in Week 3.
NFL fans will be treated to a showdown of the last two MVPs when Lamar Jackson and Patrick Mahomes who will reportedly meet in a Week 3 game between the Baltimore Ravens and Kansas City Chiefs in a potential AFC Championship Game preview.
The two best teams in the AFC will have a litmus test early in the season in a game that could decide who gets home-field advantage in the conference. Last year, the Ravens had the No. 1 seed but couldn’t get to the Super Bowl after they were upset by the Tennessee Titans.
Meanwhile, the Chiefs had the No. 3 seed and still played every game at Arrowhead Stadium because the Titans kept upsetting the top seeds.
The Chiefs ultimately beat them and got to the Super Bowl where they beat the San Francisco 49ers with a thrilling fourth-quarter comeback and Mahomes being named Super Bowl 54 MVP.
Kansas City is the favorite to get to Super Bowl 55 while the Ravens are the AFC team getting the second-best odds.
Mahomes and Jackson are the future of the NFL as well as the present of the NFL. This will be one of the most-watched games of the year in all likelihood and hopefully one of the best-played games too.
Beyond the matchup of the last two MVP winners, the star power will be out of control with Pro Bowlers up and down the roster and two future Hall of Fame coaches patrolling the sideline in Andy Reid and John Harbaugh.
On a day when the NFL schedule leaks are flying left and right, this matchup is one of the games circled on my calendar that I can’t wait to watch. It’s too early to predict a winner but I predict a lot of points from both teams and Mahomes and Jackson making big statements in their MVP cases.
