The Chicago Bears entered the 2020 NFL Draft with seven draft picks but none in the first round for the second straight year due to the Khalil Mack trade with the Raiders.
Their first selection was the No. 43 overall pick, the second round pick they received from the Raiders in the Mack trade. The Bears also owned their own second round pick (No. 50). But they don’t have a third round pick as part of the compensation to get Mack and they don’t have a fourth round pick after trading that to New England to move up to get running back David Montgomery in the third round last year.

The 6-foot-2, 262-pound tight end adds another weapon for the Bears offense that is largely devoid of them. Cole Kmet should bring instant credibility to the tight end room with veteran Jimmy Graham after the Bears got next to nothing from the tight end position last year. The Bears may have been able to wait on Kmet and hope he would be there for them at No. 50, but Matt Nagy, Ryan Pace and the Bears get the consensus top tight end in the draft without having to roll the dice.
