CeeDee Lamb’s lofty goals prove he’ll fit right in on Cowboys

Cowboys draftee CeeDee Lamb has lofty goals for himself.

The Cowboys spent their first-round pick on big-play Oklahoma wide receiver CeeDee Lamb in what looked from the start like a Jerry Jones-commandeered decision. Lamb will fit in nicely next to Amari Cooper and Michael Gallup, and despite likely starting out in the slot, the rookie has high expectations for himself out the gate.

A franchise which has produced NFL legends like Drew Pearson and Michael Irvin could have another star on its hands, assuming Lamb gets his way. With Dak Prescott behind center and an offensive core centered around the strengths of Ezekiel Elliott and their elite wide receiver group, Cowboys fans will be thrilled to learn Lamb wants to follow in the footsteps of some Dallas greats.

Dallas Cowboys rookie wide receiver envisions his career-ending in Canton.

“Be a Hall of Famer. Have as much of an impact or more that Michael [Irvin] had on the game and on America’s Team. I want to be on a team that makes unbelievable memories together. I feel like that is what we are going to do here,” Lamb stated of his goals in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

Lamb’s collegiate stats, in which he emerged as the top target for both Kyler Murray and Jalen Hurts thanks to back-to-back seasons registering 1,158 and 1,327 yards respectively, suggest he won’t have much trouble adjusting to the NFL.

While he’s unlikely to see the kind of open space he became accustomed to in the Big 12 right away, it’s Kellen Moore’s job to find ways to get Lamb the ball in space. It’s fair to expect Moore to deliver upon such expectations.

A Hall-of-Fame ending would be more than a decade away, but Lamb’s mentality will fit right in with a franchise that prides itself on a boisterous mentality.
