Ronald Jones is the running back you’ll need to survive bye week hell

Fantasy Football, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

You may find yourself in a predicament with fantasy running backs during your bye week. A solution to your problem might be Ronald Jones.

Week 10 is upon us in the 2019 NFL season. While the team you root for could be in playoff position or looking ahead to the 2020 NFL Draft, one thing is certain: Fantasy football goes on regardless of which players you have on bye week. If you’re in bye week hell, perhaps a guy like running back Ronald Jones of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers can help you out?

That’s what The Fantasy Footballers think this week with six teams being on bye this week. If you have running backs from the Denver Broncos, the Houston Texans, the Jacksonville Jaguars, the New England Patriots, the Philadelphia Eagles or the Washington Redskins, you could be in trouble and may need to scavenge over the waiver wire to find at least two running backs to start.

Andy Holloway of The Fantasy Footballers would point out that Jones is only owned in 40 percent of fantasy leagues. Though the Buccaneers are far from a good football team this year, they do have a favorable matchup this week, as they will host the Arizona Cardinals for a 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff at Raymond James Stadium.

Arizona has had a better season that expected under first-year head coach Kliff Kingsbury, but the Cardinals are more of a finesse football team that a physical one. Add in that the Cardinals will be playing a game at 10:00 a.m. PT, and this could be one where Tampa Bay could get out to an early lead by overpowering a sleepy Arizona team.

While the Buccaneers will presumably miss the NFC playoffs yet again, this is a favorable matchup for Jones because Tampa Bay is in desperate need for a win, as the Buccaneers are 2-6. Arizona is only slightly better at 3-5-1. If there is a game that Tampa Bay can win this year, this might be one of the better ones left on the Buccaneers schedule.

Overall, this may only be a one-week play for Jones as a running back or a flex option in fantasy football. Frankly, if you play in a deep league, he may not be available. But if he’s still out there in the days leading up to Week 10’s game on Sunday afternoon, go get him and drop somebody you don’t really need to save your season and keep your fantasy football playoff dreams alive and well.
