Giants might get Jason Garrett because Jerry Jones isn’t happy

Dallas Cowboys, New York Giants

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones isn’t happy with how things have gone with Jason Garrett. If Garret is fired, he might end up with the New York Giants.

The Dallas Cowboys fall to 6-5 on the year after not scoring a touchdown on the road in what was actually a winnable game against the New England Patriots. Dallas has yet to beat a team with a winning record this season. Though they still lead the NFC East, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones isn’t the least bit happy with how his team has played under head coach Jason Garrett. Is he done?

Well, Dallas probably has to make the NFC playoffs this year and probably win a postseason game for Garrett to get another year as the Cowboys head coach. Jones has stuck with his team’s former backup quarterback for a very long time now with very little on-field success. Dallas hasn’t played in a Super Bowl in over 20 years and hasn’t sniffed an NFC championship in over two decades.

Should Jones part ways with Garrett at the end of the season, he may not be out of work for very long. According to the NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the New York Giants could be a team that might have an interest in hiring the current Cowboys coach.

New York has lost seven games in a row under head coach Pat Shurmur with Daniel Jones as the Giants starting quarterback. With great knowledge of the division, Garrett could be key in helping reclaim the sunken Giants’ football ship. If he can sprinkle some of the magic that made Tony Romo special and what’s working for Dak Prescott, Garrett could be destined for the Big Apple.

Overall, things are getting to a critical point with Dallas regarding Garrett as the Cowboys head coach. This team has a ton of talent on it, but continually gets outworked in the coaching department by whatever team it comes across. In short, Garrett has held this team back for some time now and Jones may just have had enough of it.

Of course, the Giants will have to fire yet another head coach in Shurmur if they are to hire Garrett. Could Garrett be an offensive coordinator or something on Shurmur’s staff? No, because Garrett is only the CEO-type of head coach. He lets Kellen Moore run his offense and Rod Marinelli run his defense. He’d have to take over for Shurmur completely if he were to get the Giants job.
