NFL Power Rankings

With a dozen teams in the 2019 NFL postseason comes 12 starting quarterbacks. A look from bottom to top with the proper perspective on each.

Earlier, there was a look at how the 12 NFL playoff teams in 2019 ranked from bottom to top. This time around, it’s a glance at how each club’s starting quarterbacks stacks up from No. 12 to No. 1. Someone has to be at the top/bottom of the list but credit is due to all dozen signal-callers. Here’s a look at how the group stacks up, combining the player’s season-long performance as well as his postseason history.

12. Josh Allen, Buffalo Bills

2019 Recap: The second-year signal-caller got off a rough start in Week 1 when he turned over the football four times in the first half vs. the Jets. All told, Allen threw for only three scores but gave up the football eight times in the Bills’ first four games via six interceptions and two lost fumbles. But the 2018 first-round pick settled in the remainder of the season as he connected for 17 scores while serving up only two interceptions and committing a total of only five turnovers. Allen has one of the better running games in the league on and he’s part of that equation, rushing for 510 yards and a team-best nine touchdowns.

Postseason Pedigree: It’s obviously the first playoff start for Allen. Two years ago, Sean McDermott’s club was led by Tryod Taylor and the results were a 10-3 loss at Jacksonville in the wild card round. Now Allen will try to lead the Bills to their first playoff win since 1995. Allen and his team was 6-2 on the road in ’19.

Analysis: Allen was one of the NFL’s most improved quarterbacks this season after an erratic rookie campaign. He really came into his own as a passer this year and showed his mettle late in games when called upon. His ability to frustrate defenses with his legs and now his arm makes him a player to watch.
