As the NFL schedules are starting to come out, there are rumors of Kirk Cousins and the Minnesota Vikings facing off against the Seahawks in Seattle Week 6.

Well Minnesota Vikings fans, the Kirk Cousins‘ primetime nightmare will continue with a reported matchup against the Seattle Seahawks Week 6. The thing that will sting about this season is the huge contract Cousins was given to stay in Minnesota for an additional two seasons after 2020.

Cousin’s first contract was three years, $84,000,000. The contract he signed recently was two years, $66,000,000. That’s a lot of money to invest in a quarterback who can’t win the big games.

For example, Cousins has lost all nine starts in his career on Monday Night Football. That’s the worst record in NFL history. For comparison, every other starting quarterback in the NFC North has won at least one Monday Night Football game.

His Thursday Night Football performances aren’t much better, though he does have multiple wins. Cousins is 2-5 on Thursday Nights. That record isn’t exciting though if I’m a Vikings fan here. I’d rather play all day games to minimize the damage.

Overall, Cousins is 8-15-1 in primetime games, which we can’t fault him for every loss. There are things that happen out of his control to lose games sometimes. Still, the elite quarterbacks find a way to win those big games.

Cousins has won just two games when trailing in the fourth quarter since joining the Vikings in 2018. He had his first one last season against the Packers and followed it up with an overtime win against the Saints in the playoffs.

In the playoffs, as a starter, Cousins is 1-2, which isn’t terrible. He’s thrown three touchdowns and just one interception for 774 yards in his four playoff games. Did you know, his one playoff win came against Drew Brees? That’s not a bad guy to steal your first playoff win from.

Still, if the Vikings are going to be a playoff team, I am sure fans would feel better if they didn’t see night games on the schedule. A night game against Russell Wilson, who is elite in the biggest moments, doesn’t help their chances either.
