Will the Seattle Seahawks’ draft plans hinge on its confidence in re-signing Jadeveon Clowney? You have to read this seven-round mock draft to find out!

Death, taxes and John Schneider trading down in the first round.

These are things we know in life to be true and in an unprecedented NFL offseason, they could ring truer than ever before.

As the Seahawks continue to play their game of free agent chicken with Jadeveon Clowney, they head into the 2020 NFL Draft with a number of needs at key positions. They have a budding superstar at wide receiver in D.K. Metcalf but are already being pestered for more by a former Badger, Russell Wilson.

After adding Greg Olsen, Philip Dorsett, and a bargain bin full of offensive linemen, how will the ‘Hawks approach the 2020 NFL Draft? It’s time to find out with my completely-accurate, final seven-round mock of the offseason!

1st round

Julian Okwara

EDGE, Fighting Irish

Schneider, the mayor of Trade Down Town, figures to be open for business with this pick but this mock doesn’t project trades so I’ll stick with a guy who will be in consideration for wherever Seattle ends up picking: Notre Dame’s Julian Okwara.

Whether the Seahawks extend Jadeveon Clowney or trade for Yannick Ngakoue, EDGE will definitely be a focus with one of their first few picks.

Julian Okwara (6-foot-4, 252 pounds) fits exactly what Seattle looks for at LEO and could help to learn under the tutelage of former first-rounder Bruce Irvin. Okwara’s late-season broken leg has bumped his draft stock down slightly but the talent and athleticism are certainly there.

Pro Football Focus has detailed how efficient Okwara is at pressuring the quarterback, which has seemed to be an important metric in Seattle’s evaluation of EDGE defenders. He’s got some nifty pass-rush moves in his arsenal and is a much more athletic and polished player than brother and current Detroit Lion, Romeo Okwara.

I think the Seahawks would have loved to add a weapon like Henry Ruggs III for Russell Wilson, but the backup plan here is likely an edge defender or maybe even Lenoir-Rhyne’s Kyle Dugger.

Can the Los Angeles Rams help to offset some of the team’s major recent free-agent losses with a strong 2020 NFL Draft class?

The Los Angeles Rams couldn’t avoid a slight Super Bowl hangover in 2019, and despite a 9-7 season, finished third place in a brutally-tough NFC West.

The team’s midseason trade for Jalen Ramsey leaves the Rams without a first-rounder in the 2020 NFL Draft, but a recent trade of Brandin Cooks has helped recoup some of their missing draft capital.

With brand new coordinators in place and a new era of Rams football set to begin at SoFi Stadium, how will the team look to rebound and return to the playoffs despite numerous departures in free agency?

Let’s take a look with my seven-round Rams mock draft.

Not even Tom Brady could copyright this brand new Tampa Bay Buccaneers seven-round mock draft.

Have you heard of Tom Brady? He’s a well-respected <del>copyright entrepreneur</del> football player who is now a member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The addition of Brady turns the Bucs into a legitimate contender in the NFC and now it’s time for the team to turn their attention to the 2020 draft and how to support their new Tampa…Bae.

I’ll see myself out.

1st round

It’s hard to imagine Tampa Bay going anywhere but offensive tackle with this pick. Much like quarterbacks and receivers, the order that tackles come off the board is anyone’s guess. And if anybody tells you “PLAYER X is definitely the first player off the board,” they’re probably lying.

Jedrick Wills is a really solid player but has seemed to lose a little bit of steam during the pre-draft process at the expense of the prospects with crazy athleticism (Wirfs), massive size (Becton) or consistency (Thomas). That leads him to slide a little bit in round one, where Tampa Bay is more than happy to scoop him up.

Wills can slot in immediately at right tackle to replace Demar Dotson and help to keep Tom Brady upright in the pocket.

How will the New Orleans Saints approach the 2020 draft in what is likely one of Drew Brees’ final seasons with the team?

The New Orleans Saints brought back Hall of Famer Drew Brees for what is potentially one last hurrah on a two-year, $50 million deal, and now look for ways to potentially send him off with another Super Bowl ring.

It all starts with a strong draft class, so how will the Saints look to improve their roster? Let’s find out with this seven-round mock draft.

1st round

Kristian Fulton

CB, Tigers

Wide receiver will certainly be a consideration here (Jefferson, Aiyuk and Mims are all potential targets), but the class is too deep to warrant a first-round selection unless an unexpected guy drops. The NFC South is already loaded with wide receiver talent so the Saints respond by adding in-state product Kristian Fulton with their top pick.

A Louisiana native who won a state title in the Superdome, taking Fulton would be something out of a cheesy sports movie. Thankfully for New Orleans, they also happen to need help in the secondary opposite Marshon Lattimore.

Fulton’s well-documented off-field incident involving a failed drug test may concern some teams but New Orleans has the benefit of getting intel directly in their own backyard.

The Chicago Bears are in full win-now mode as faith in quarterback Mitchell Trubisky continues to wane. Can they salvage the offense despite having limited draft capital?

The Mitchell Trubisky Era enters its critical phase in the 2020 season, with the jobs of front office and coaching personnel potentially on the line if the Chicago Bears can’t rebound from a disappointing 8-8 season.

The team brought in Nick Foles from the Jacksonville Jaguars via trade as a backup plan but there’s no doubt that the team is in win-now mode heading into the 2020 NFL Draft.

The Philadelphia Eagles are in the market for an upgrade at wide receiver. Is the first round the perfect spot to land a weapon for Carson Wentz?

The injury bug was not kind to the Philadelphia Eagles in 2019. In fact, at times it seemed like the bug had felt comfortable enough to rearrange furniture and hang family photos on the walls of the team facility.

But 2020 is a new year and with it comes the hopes of evicting that aforementioned bug.

It’s no secret that Philadelphia needs talent at wide receiver and just so happens to be heading into the perfect draft to find some. Where does Philly turn to give Carson Wentz more offensive weapons to work with? Let’s find out in this seven-round Eagles mock.

And remember, your favorite team has never made a pick you didn’t agree with, so why start now?

1st round

Justin Jefferson

WR, Tigers

Philadelphia is well aware that it can’t head into a future playoff game with a former quarterback as its No. 1 wide receiver. Names like Henry Ruggs III, Jerry Jeudy and CeeDee Lamb could very well be off the board at this point, so the Eagles instead turn to LSU standout Justin Jefferson.

Jefferson is one of my favorite prospects in this class and seems to be a lock for the first round. His speed was on display at the NFL Draft Combine when he posted a 4.43 40-yard dash, but the most fun element of his game is his contested catch ability and massive catch radius.

Jefferson is the guy who can bail out your quarterback on a bad throw multiple times over the course of a game and shows enough elusiveness in the open field once the ball is in his hands.

The Eagles’ need to add reliable targets for Carson Wentz is one of the draft’s worst-kept secrets and they’re off to a good start in this mock with the selection of Jefferson.

The Arizona Cardinals may be one of the most improved teams in 2020 with the addition of DeAndre Hopkins, but they still need help around QB Kyler Murray.

When the Arizona Cardinals were able to acquire WR DeAndre Hopkins for aging RB David Johnson last month, the NFL and the internet collectively lost their minds. Houston clearly lost this trade with Arizona, and now the Cardinals are able to have one of the league’s best pass catchers to pair with their young star QB.

Now, the Cardinals will set a goal for the NFL Draft to become a team that can compete with the 49ers and Seahawks for an NFC West title.

First Round

8

Jedrick Wills

Alabama Crimson Tide offensive tackle Jedrick Wills is making the jump to the NFL, and he will likely be able to step in as a starter from the beginning. The 6-foot-4, 312 pound junior will be off the board early as either the first or second tackle taken, and Arizona could use his services at #8.

With Jason Peters as an NFL comparison, it seems Wills has a very bright future ahead of him in the league. He actually lacks the typical size and length of an NFL tackle, but quick punches and stop opponents from using their own length against him. Wills excels as a move blocker due to his agility. He is extremely comfortable and capable using his leverage and lower body strength to become a body mover. It wouldn’t be shocking to see Wills on an All-Pro list early in his career.

Second Round

The Cardinals do not currently possess a second round pick.

The Atlanta Falcons have six picks in the upcoming 2020 NFL Draft to build on what the team did in free agency. Here is their latest 2020 NFL mock draft.

The Atlanta Falcons certainly made some noise in free agency. They added players like running back Todd Gurley, linebacker Dante Fowler and wide receiver Laquon Treadwell to the mix. Atlanta also orchestrated a trade with the Baltimore Ravens for tight end Hayden Hurst. Interestingly enough, all four of these new additions are former first-round picks by other NFL teams.

Of course, Atlanta did lose a handful of players this offseason. Tight end Austin Hooper signed with the Cleveland Browns. Linebacker Vic Beasley is now on the Tennessee Titans. Defensive end Adrian Clayborn is with the Browns, too. Cornerback Desmond Trufant now plays for the Detroit Lions. Running back Devonta Freeman is still a free agent, but he’s not coming back to Atlanta.

Ultimately, the Falcons need to hit on a few of their draft picks in the coming days. Atlanta only has six picks this year: One in the first three rounds, two in the fourth round and one in the seventh round. Though they have three top-100 picks and five in the top 150, Atlanta only has one pick on day three if they need to round out depth there.

Primary draft needs for the Falcons are out along the edge, along the defensive line and at tight end. Secondary needs are at cornerback, running back and wide receiver. Though they may not be able to address most, or any, of their tertiary needs, the Falcons could use a quarterback, a safety a guard and a center. Here is the Falcons’ latest 2020 NFL mock draft. Who are they taking now?

First Round

16

Yetur Gross-Matos

EDGE Penn State Nittany Lions

If Atlanta goes with anyone other than a defensive player with their first-round selection at No. 16, it would come as a complete shock. While players like Florida Gators cornerback C.J. Henderson and South Carolina Gamecocks defensive lineman Javon Kinlaw could end up being taken here, let’s go with Penn State Nittany Lions pass-rusher Yetur Gross-Matos at No. 16.

Gross-Matos is 6-foot-5 and 264 pounds. He’ll join a pass rush headlined by newcomer Fowler, Pro Bowl defensive tackle Grady Jarrett and former first-round pick Takkarist McKinley in Atlanta. With his large frame and propensity of getting after the quarterback, Gross-Matos could be Clayborn’s suitable replacement out on the edge.

In 2018 and 2019, Gross-Matos was named First-Team All-Big Ten. He had two strong seasons to close out his college career in Happy Valley. As a sophomore in 2018, Gross-Matos had 54 total tackles, 20 going for a loss of yardage and eight of them were sacks. In his junior season in 2019, he had 40 total tackles, 14.5 for a loss of yardage and nine of them for sacks. He was productive.

With proven commodities playing alongside him in Fowler and Jarrett, Gross-Matos could be in for a big rookie campaign in Atlanta playing for Dan Quinn. Adding Gross-Matos provides both security if McKinley doesn’t have a good year, or better yet, could serve as a catalyst to get the most out of Atlanta’s former first-round pick out of UCLA back in 2017.

The Seattle Seahawks have seven picks to work with in the 2020 NFL Draft. Here is their latest 2020 NFL mock draft. Who will they end up taking?

It’s always interesting to see what John Schneider plans to do in an NFL Draft. For every Seattle Seahawks’ botch job of a first-round pick, there almost always seems to be a hidden gem that makes multiple Pro Bowlers who somehow fell to day three. Seattle loves to trade back under Schneider, even if he has plenty of draft picks to work with.

This year, the Seahawks have a full allotment of seven picks, but it’s a little thin on day three. That’s not the end of the world, as Seattle has a picks in each of the first four rounds, as well as a pair in the second round and a pair in the fourth round. So in total, Seattle has three top 100 picks, nearly four with their fourth selection coming in at No. 101 and six in the top 150.

Primary draft needs for the Seahawks are at offensive tackle, out on the edge defensively and at safety. Second draft needs are at wide receiver, cornerback and along the defensive line. The Seahawks also have tertiary draft needs at quarterback, tight end and running back. They should be able to address most of their draft needs, but not all of them.

Here is the latest 2020 NFL mock draft for the Seahawks. Who will they take in the coming days?

First Round

27

Austin Jackson

OT USC Trojans

Seattle can go in a lot of different directions here at No. 27 in the latter part of the first round. If they wanted to go with a safety, Alabama’s Xavier McKinney could be available. If the Seahawks were looking at a pass-rusher, Penn State’s Yetur Gross-Matos might drop to them. But let’s be real. Seattle is always in need of help along the offensive line. They go offensive tackle here.

So with the No. 27 overall pick in the first round, the Seahawks will go with a West Coast kid in the form of USC Trojans offensive tackle Austin Jackson. This is a deep offensive tackle draft, and the Seahawks are going to get a tremendous player coming their way in the second wave. In most years, a player like Jackson would push towards the top 10, but he’ll be around at pick No. 27.

Jackson is 6-foot-6 and 310 pounds. He was First-Team All-Pac-12 as a junior in 2019. After playing on special teams and in a backup role as a freshman, Jackson emerged as the Trojans’ starting level tackle in 2018, a role he didn’t relinquish until declaring for the 2020 NFL Draft.

It should be noted his grandfather Melvin Jackson played in the NFL for the Green Bay Packers.

So Seattle would be getting an emerging talent who started for multiple seasons at a Power 5 school with a good pedigree. Drafting an offensive tackle used to be the surest thing any team could do in a draft, but that is no longer the case. For a guy who’d go in the top half of the draft in most seasons, the Seahawks could be a getting a bargain and a long-time starter here in Jackson.

The San Francisco 49ers have had an interesting post-Super Bowl offseason, and they will look to reload through the NFL Draft for 2021.

The San Francisco 49ers came up just short in Super Bowl LIV a couple of months ago, and they want to reload in order to make another run at a title. With Jimmy Garoppolo planted firmly as the leader, John Lynch and Kyle Shanahan will aim to build around the QB for years to come.

Trades have resulted in an interesting mix of picks for the Niners, as they have two in the first round but then have a huge gap to wait through until the fifth round. That could all change as the 2020 NFL Draft approaches, or even during the course of it, but for now, they’ll likely only wind up with two players that can help immediately.

First Round

13

CeeDee Lamb

WR Oklahoma

CeeDee Lamb is unquestionably one of the top receivers in the 2020 NFL Draft class, and he should be available right in the middle of round one. Currently, the 49ers will rely on Jalen Hurd, Kendrick Bourne and Marquis Goodwin behind #1 WR Deebo Samuel. Emmanuel Sanders, who was with the team for their Super Bowl run after a trade last October, signed with the Saints this offseason, creating a new need here. If the 49ers are able to nab Lamb, or any top receiver in this position, they will be able to create a fearsome attack along with Samuel and tight end George Kittle.

This pick was acquired in the 49ers-Colts DeForest Buckner trade in March.

31

Noah Igbinoghene

CB Auburn

Auburn’s Noah Igbinoghene is slowly and somewhat quietly climbing NFL Draft boards, and he may just sneak into the end of the first round. If he lasts until #31, the 49ers would likely love the opportunity to grab the corner back. The Auburn product would then get the chance to learn from one of the best in Richard Sherman, and he could step in to help right away.

Igbinoghene began his collegiate career as a wide receiver, appearing in all 14 of the Tigers games in 2017. He also served as the team’s primary kickoff returner and averaged 23.8 yards. The next season, he made the switch to corner back and started 9 of 13 games. Igbinoghene continued to serve as a returner as well, adding a touchdown on the year. He is aggressive, physical, and explosive, and his returner abilities will help him to become a difference maker for the 49ers right away.
