Jamal Adams is definitely highly sought after as he pushes for a trade, with the 49ers and Seahawks now pushing to the front of the line.

With no sign of a new contract on the horizon and his status as one of the best safeties in the NFL, Jamal Adams wants the New York Jets to trade him. The team does not seem compelled to move him though, with two years of contractual control remaining. But that surely isn’t stopping teams from calling about the two-time Pro Bowler.

Most of the other 31 teams can build a strong case to pursue a trade for Adams. The Dallas Cowboys are a popular landing spot, and they seem to be Adams’ preferred new team, but a couple of division rivals have entered the fray.

According to Rob Rang of SI.com, the Seattle Seahawks are among the teams who have inquired about the availability of Adams. Corbin Smith of SI.com added the San Francisco 49ers to the list of suitors while adding the Seahawks and 49ers have both had “preliminary discussions” with the Jets.

Will getting Jamal Adams be the NFC West tipping point?

Adams has a list of seven preferred destinations-the Baltimore Ravens, the Kansas City Chiefs, the Cowboys, the 49ers, the Seahawks, the Philadelphia Eagles and the Houston Texans, with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers added as an eighth shortly after. It’s noteworthy that the 49ers and Seahawks are both on that list, which may explain the recent engagement of the Jets by both teams.

It takes two to tango in trade talks. So if the Jets are willing to stand pat and let things play out any team that wants to engage has, and probably will continue to, hit a dead end. The asking price can and should be high. But it’s foolish to think multiple teams won’t be willing to meet it to secure the services of a 24-year old who is among the best at his position, as well as one of the best defensive players in the league.

Who on the Seattle Seahawks will fly to another destination after the 2020 season?

The Seattle Seahawks were one yard away from clinching the NFC West crown in last year’s regular season finale against the San Francisco 49ers. Even though they earned a playoff berth, the Seahawks were still a flawed team, and saw plenty of roster turnover this past offseason due to their limited amount of cap space.

If they want to continue to contend for the foreseeable future, general manager John Schneider has some difficult decisions to make. No one in that locker room is safe for the next year, and these three players are most likely to be wished the best of luck in their future endeavors.

Entering the 2020 season, the Seahawks receiving corps will be headed by Tyler Lockett, DK Metcalf, and David Moore. Yet, the latter’s future with the team already appears to be in flux.

Moore was a starter for the Seahawks in 2018, where he managed to haul in 26 receptions for 455 yards and five touchdowns on 53 targets. But last season, Moore was relegated to becoming a rotational receiver, where he only accumulated 301 yards and two scores.

This offseason, the Seahawks signed former New England Patriots wideout Phillip Dorsett to a one-year deal to round out their passing attack. However, rumors continue to circulate around a potential Antonio Brown signing. The embattled receiver has been out of the NFL since last September, but was seen working out with Seattle signal caller Russell Wilson recently.

If the team does bring “AB” in, Moore is going to be shown the door following the upcoming season.

Pete Carroll’s Seahawks could be poised to add a troubled All-Pro receiver – either Josh Gordon or Antonio Brown – to Russell Wilson’s arsenal.

The Seattle Seahawks enter the 2020 NFL season as a Super Bowl contender yet again. There are few teams in the league that have been more steadily consistent over the past decade, but if you’re keen to believe the latest buzz, they could usher in the new season with a proper dose of chaos.

Per insider Michael Silver, Pete Carroll’s Hawks are expected to entertain signing either Antonio Brown or Josh Gordon as they attempt their respective NFL comebacks.

The Seattle Seahawks are reportedly considering wide receivers Josh Gordon and Antonio Brown as potential targets ahead of the 2020 NFL season

Gordon logged time with New England last season before surfacing with the Hawks, but featured sparingly before being suspended indefinitely for substance abuse in December. He’s since applied for reinstatement with the league, and has notably remained in Seattle to work out.

As for Brown, his situation may be the only one less predictable than Gordon’s. After making zero appearances over the course of a brief and catastrophic time with the Raiders, he played exactly one game for the Patriots before getting kicked to the curb. He was accused of sexual assault in two different civil lawsuits, and later charged with battery against a truck driver.

He’s also a seven-time Pro Bowler and four time First Team All-Pro who was putting together a Hall of Fame career before succumbing to self-sabotage.

It would take an organization as solidly grounded as Seattle’s to bring in one of these guys and live to tell about it if and when things did go bad. Everyone loves a comeback story, but each of these guys has a heck of a lot to prove in order to get back into the good graces of the football establishment.

If that can possibly happen, however, the Seahawks instantly become the kind of title contender nobody’s going to want to face on the road in January.

The ESPY’s became the latest platform for athletes to voice their support for Black Lives Matter in an emotional intro.

In the wake of George Floyd’s death at the hands of Minneapolis police, and the protests which have yet to subside nationwide, athletes of all races continue to use their platform to speak out against racism, and in support of the Black Lives Matter movement.

Russell Wilson led the charge on Sunday night, with co-hosts Sue Bird and Megan Rapinoe adding their weight in a powerful tribute to open an event celebrating the very best in their field.

Russell Wilson, Megan Rapinoe and Sue Bird provide powerful ESPY’s tribute to George Floyd and Black Lives Matter movement.

Wilson spoke to his experience, with Rapinoe and Bird stepping in as allies while revisiting some of the most critical moments in the fight for racial equality, all of which transcended sports. Sticking to sports in this day and age is virtually impossible, even for an award show. ESPN and their partners’ willingness to accept this fact and invite some of the more transcendent voices in athletics and culture to make that point is undoubtedly a step in the right direction.

Bird, speaking to sports fans of all backgrounds, perhaps hit the hardest with a quote which ought to register with all of us: “Do black lives matter to you when they’re not throwing touchdowns, grabbing rebounds, serving aces? If that was uncomfortable to hear, good.”

There is no easy conversation, especially in the White community, acknowledging racial inequality. To many, it took a shocking video of an African-American male dying in front of the world to finally get it. The question now is how to channel those emotions into productive actions, supporting brothers and sisters of all races, aimed to at the very least narrow that gap.

Athletes can be part of that solution by adding pressure and emphasizing the discussion. We got a glimpse of just that at the 2020 ESPYs.

The Legion of Boom is long gone, as Earl Thomas, Kam Chancellor and Richard Sherman have all moved on, but the Seattle Seahawks have a chance to restock their secondary with the best young safety in the NFL, should they choose.

Jamal Adams is readily available, having requested a trade from the New York Jets earlier Thursday. He’ll cost a pretty penny, as the 24-year-old has two years remaining on his rather cheap contract, despite being in need of an extension prior to 2021.

What would a Seahawks-Jets Jamal Adams trade look like?

The Seahawks don’t have much in terms of young, starting-caliber talent to offer the Jets, specifically in their secondary. However, what John Schneider has shown is that he’s not afraid to deal draft picks. Seattle’s become well-known for rarely having a first-round pick each and every April.

Jets Get

2021 First-Round Pick

2021 Fourth-Round Pick

We’re going to bank on the Jets being slightly more flexible this time around, as they previously requested a first- and third-round pick. Yet, given Adams has made his demands a little more public, perhaps New York will take a fourth just to get this headache off their hands before training camp begins.

Adams paired with Quandre Diggs and Bradley McDougald in Seattle’s secondary is a scary thought, even if it means the Seahawks won’t have enough money to bring back Jadeveon Clowney or bring in another capable pass-rusher like Everson Griffen.

A greater question remains should the Seahawks acquire Adams, and that’s pertaining to his looming contract extension. Despite the fact that Schneider’s been unwilling to give out lucrative contracts to defensive stars in the past (see Sherman, Clowney, etc.), having one of the best, youngest safeties in the game in Hawks colors long-term may be too attractive to pass up.

Could the Kansas City Chiefs trade Chris Jones to the Seattle Seahawks?

The clock is ticking on Chris Jones getting a new contract with the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Chiefs slapped the franchise tag on their Pro Bowl defensive tackle back in March. Kansas City has until July 15 to put a new deal in place for the best player on their defense. Otherwise, he’ll have to play out the 2020 NFL season on the tag. If that happens, he’s not coming back to Kansas City on a new contract. The Chiefs have to pay other guys and he’ll be too expensive for them.

Chiefs general manager needs to pay Jones first and before July 15 because otherwise he’s gone. Kansas City has to pay superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes soon. The Chiefs’ brass may also want to get out ahead of George Kittle’s mega deal coming with the San Francisco 49ers. If Kittle gets paid before tight end Travis Kelce gets a new deal in place, Kelce will be gone in two years.

The Chiefs have the second-worst salary cap situation in the league at only $3,574,461. The defending Super Bowl champions have been having their cake and eating it too, but if Veach can’t get a long-term deal done with Jones in the next month, they just might be better off trading him. But who could the Chiefs trade him to? The best spot has to be the Seattle Seahawks.

What would a Chris Jones trade to the Seattle Seahawks look like?

Alistair Corp of Field Gulls outlined a ton of reasons why Jones to the Seahawks would be a great fit for both parties should it come down to this. Jones could be the Seahawks’ version of what the Los Angeles Rams have in Aaron Donald, a disruptive interior force who will make life difficult for the opposing quarterbacks in his new division in Jimmy Garoppolo, Jared Goff and Kyler Murray.

The Seahawks would probably have to send defensive tackle Jarran Reed back Kansas City’s way, as he’d be a cheaper, albeit a lesser version of Jones. Then again, Reed played at a more dominant SEC West program at Alabama than Jones did at Mississippi State. Trading Jones to Seattle would free up some much-needed money for the Chiefs, as well gaining a quality player in Reed in return.

The other thing to keep in mind is Veach and Seahawks general manager John Schneider orchestrated a blockbuster trade last year over a similar situation. Seattle used the franchise tag on defensive end Frank Clark, but ended up sending him to the Chiefs ahead of last season. Could we have another Kansas City/Seattle deal on our hands in a few weeks’ time? Don’t rule it out.

Next: 5 NFL players who cement their Hall of Fame legacy in 2020

Schematically, Jones would be a terrific fit along Seattle’s defensive line. Because the Chiefs and Seahawks don’t play in the same conference, they wouldn’t face each other this year unless they were to meet down in Tampa for Super Bowl 55, which is totally in play. The Seahawks need to replace Jadeveon Clowney and the Chiefs need to figure out what they’re doing with Jones soon.

It sounds nuts, but it wouldn’t be shocking if Jones went to Seattle if he can’t net a long-term deal.

Despite calls from around the league for an NFL team to sign Colin Kaepernick, the Seahawks don’t appear interested.

The Seattle Seahawks were one of the only teams to give former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick a look in his years estranged from football.

While that’s no fault to Kaep, this time around it appears he’ll have to look elsewhere for reliable NFL employment.

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell and a number of players have come around to Kaepernick’s way of thinking four years after the original protest against police brutality, which initially bothered many owners. That animosity left Kaepernick out of a job, and eventually aiming a lawsuit directly at those who opposed him.

Could Colin Kaepernick sign with the Seattle Seahawks?

In short, the Seahawks don’t seem interested this time around, as expressed by SeattlePI reporter Ben Arthur.

— Ben Arthur (@benyarthur) June 11, 2020

Pete Carroll’s current quarterback depth chart is shaky behind Russell Wilson, with Geno Smith and undrafted rookie Anthony Gordon out of Washington State behind him.

Smith hasn’t played in an NFL game since 2018, and hasn’t been a starter since 2014 with the New York Jets. The former West Virginia Mountaineer is holding on as a journeyman, but if pitted against Kaepernick, would at least be in for a training camp challenge.

Carroll’s comments have become familiar coach-speak to fans clamoring for Kaepernick’s return.

While the 32-year-old reportedly stays in great shape awaiting his opportunity, it’s fair to wonder how many more seasons he can be seen as a reliable backup option without taking part in official league activities.

The social cause Kaepernick knelt for is alive more than ever, but a return to normalcy, should he seek it out, won’t come easily even as the NFL claims to have learned its lesson.

Russell Wilson has a claim for being the top QB that makes the biggest throws when it counts.

Patrick Mahomes is a reigning Super Bowl champ who took home game MVP honors, but when it comes to squeezing maximum efficiency out of every high-leverage throw, he might not quite be the NFL‘s best. Just ask Pro Football Focus, who track a special subset of passes they call “big time throws,” referring to attempts “with excellent ball location and timing, generally thrown further down the field and/or into a tighter window,” per Steve Palazzolo and Sam Monson.

So, if the Chiefs superstar isn’t No. 1 in highest percentage of big time throws over the last two seasons, it’s Drew Brees or Aaron Rodgers or Tom Brady, right? Well, no. Wrong. It’s Russell Wilson.

Pro Football Focus’ “big time throws” stat shines an impressive light on Russell Wilson’s playmaking efficiency over the last two seasons

Sure, this is just one specific stat amid an ever-expanding sea of them, but consider this just one more factor that makes the Seahawks signal caller quite possibly the best pound-for-pound quarterback in football. He doesn’t have nearly the same size or cannon arm that Mahomes has — nor the 2018 league MVP trophy — but don’t let anyone forget his name when naming the elite tier of NFL gunslingers.

As a point of reference, PFF notes that the league average for BTTs between 2014 and 2017 was 4.4% of all throws — which makes them almost exactly as rare as a passing touchdown during that span. For Wilson to sport an 8.3% clip is truly dazzling.

Of course, not every PFF metric places Russ above Pat. You may now exhale, Chiefs fans!

The KC faithful may be content to insist that since the Chiefs are on top of the football world, Mahomes is the king of big time throws by default. They’re not crazy to think so. But Russell Wilson is a Super Bowl champ himself, and has proven that he’s a one-man show no matter who’s lining up around him.

Perhaps the only way to settle this is a Chiefs-Hawks Super Bowl showdown, something we absolutely cannot rule out.

Russell Wilson recently showed his support for Colin Kaepernick’s peaceful anthem protests.

With all of the protests taking place in honor of George Floyd and for awareness of racial injustices, more and more people are coming out in support of Colin Kaepernick for his decision to kneel during the National Anthem when he was still in the NFL.

Even Drew Brees, who originally said he couldn’t respect someone for kneeling during the anthem, has admitted he now understands the protests aren’t about disrespecting the American flag, but are more about protesting racial injustices.

Now, Seattle Seahawks quarterback and Super Bowl winner Russell Wilson has also come out and backed Kaepernick for his actions in previous years. Wilson didn’t hold back in a recent zoom call with the media.

Seahawks QB Russell Wilson wants to keep Colin Kaepernick’s message going

“We all need to find our own ways of how we’re going to love and how we’re going to make a difference, and everybody may do it differently,” Wilson said in the video above. “I don’t know what everybody’s going to do and how they’re going to do it, but it’s calling for people to understand what’s really going on.

“It’s heavy on me because I think the reality is with Colin, in particular, is he was trying to symbolize the right thing. People may have taken that the wrong way, but I think he was trying to do the right thing.”

Pete Carroll previously also backed Kaepernick, saying he believed the former 49ers signal caller was taking a stand for something he strongly believed in. While Kaepernick hasn’t played since 2016, he continues to make an impact on the league as being the first player to peacefully protest during the National Anthem.

Pete Carroll said “we owe a tremendous amount” to Colin Kaepernick for taking a stand against police brutality and racial oppression. https://t.co/YlLlbCy8GH pic.twitter.com/f0DhkpnuYk

Leading up to the 2020 season, numerous players have said they’re planning to do so as well following the death of Floyd. And if any Seahawks players decide to do so, it looks like Wilson will be supportive of that decision.

Pete Carroll should actually follow through and sign Colin Kaepernick.

The Seattle Seahawks have had several opportunities to sign Colin Kaepernick.

The first being in 2017 when Carroll referred to the then-free agent as “a starter in this league,” and in 2018, when the two sides postponed a workout after Kaepernick wouldn’t commit to standing during the Anthem moving forward.

Now, amid the George Floyd protests nationwide, Carroll continues to praise Kaepernick’s professionalism, admiring how he dealt with the hate directed his way for his silent protests of police brutality and racial inequality.

While those words surely mean a lot, especially from a highly-esteemed coach like Carroll, they’re baseless until an NFL team signs Kaepernick to a contract.

Should the Seattle Seahawks sign Colin Kaepernick?

Kaepernick hasn’t played an NFL down since 2016, so by no means will he come in and compete for a starting job, regardless of the situation.

In Seattle, he’d be battling to back up Russell Wilson, a position currently held by Geno Smith, who the Seahawks re-signed this offseason. Behind him is Anthony Gordon, a promising rookie out of Washington State. While the ‘Hawks seem to trust Smith more than most, Kaepernick’s experience in momentous games (even four years removed) would make him an intriguing target for John Schneider and Co.

The backlash from signing a figure of Kaepernick’s status is not nearly as severe as it once was, with many around the league circle acknowledging the former NFC champion was wronged. And, despite the fact that it eventually fell through, the NFL itself even helped arrange a workout for Kaep in an attempt to drop the hatchet.

Most importantly, the Seahawks lack significant experience behind Wilson, and they feature a suspect offensive line. Should anything go awry with a quarterback who likes to escape with his legs, having another athletic signal-caller on the roster to fill in can’t hurt matters.

It’s something to think about, and Carroll ought to deliver before his words ring hollow.
