Fantasy Football Play Caller Profile:

While Darrell Bevell is one of the more run heavy offensive coordinators, a lot of that was built on the legs of Russell Wilson. I do not believe that he is going to bring that same system with him to Detroit. The scheme that best fits Matthew Stafford and his pocket passing ability is the one that he ran in Minnesota with Brett Farve from 2009-2010.

While they will not be as run heavy as his teams in Seattle were, the mindset of head coach Matt Patricia will be to establish the run and lean heavily on the ground attack this season. In the years in which Bevell has had an elite running back such as Adrian Peterson and Marshawn Lynch his teams averaged 492 carries and rushed for 2,264 yards averaging 15 rushing touchdowns. While I do not view Kerryon Johnson as that type of workhorse back, he should still see 225-275 carries while the team total reaches 450-495 carries this season.
