Mitchell Trubisky exits early against Vikings with injury

Chicago Bears

It hasn’t been an easy season for Chicago Bears starting quarterback Mitchell Trubisky, who left the game against the Minnesota Vikings early with an injury.

Last Monday night, Mitchell Trubisky had a huge bounce-back game for the Chicago Bears, tossing three touchdowns and completing 25-of-31 passes in a big win for the Bears.

That set him up nicely for another strong game in Week 4 against a tougher and more important opponent in the rival Minnesota Vikings, but, unfortunately, an injury will likely prevent him from making an impact against Mike Zimmer’s squad.

Trubisky left the game in the first quarter with an injury, and it appeared to happen as he was being chased out of the pocket by star defensive end Danielle Hunter. He has since been ruled out with a left shoulder injury.

The former UNC star was forced to head to the locker room, and veteran backup Chase Daniel entered the game for him. If Trubisky is forced to miss time with this injury, Daniel will have plenty of weapons to work with, and there may not be much of a drop-off if Daniel can prove to be an effective game manager. Another important factor will be young running back David Montgomery and the Bears ground game.

Trubisky entered Week 4 with a 65% completion percentage but under 200 passing yards per game, an average under 6.0 yards per pass attempt, and nearly as many interceptions as touchdowns. That said, he is a great athlete and the Bears franchise quarterback with game-changing talent when he’s at his best. Hopefully, the young signal-caller is OK and the Bears only took him out as a precaution.

This is also a big opportunity for Daniel, who was crisp on his first drive, capping it off with a touchdown to running back Tarik Cohen.
