Arizona Cardinals: What to do with David Johnson?

Arizona Cardinals, Fantasy Football

So Arizona Cardinals running back David Johnson may no longer be good at football. What is a poor fantasy football owner of his to do in this situation?

Though the Arizona Cardinals aren’t terrible this year with first-year head coach Kliff Kingsbury and rookie starting quarterback Kyler Murray, we may have very well seen the best of running back David Johnson already. Oh, how the mighty have fallen…

Johnson is either dealing with a ton of injuries or he’s forgotten how to play football at a high level. Either way, it’s not good for anybody and especially not good for your fantasy football team. What are you to do if Johnson is taking up a spot on your roster? The Fantasy Footballers to the rescue!

The truth hurts, but it’s the truth. There’s not really a ton you can do with Johnson in fantasy football at this time. If you start him, you’re going to continue to get the same poor results you’ve got for weeks. Can you trade him? Sure, but who in your league is dumb enough to give you a good offer for him?

This leaves just one option. You’re going to have to bite the bullet and plant Johnson’s butt on the bench. Dropping him leaves open the possibility he gets picked up by someone in your league and maybe has a good game for them and most certainly not on your team.

That being said, it is worthwhile to keep him on your bench if you can afford to do so during another episode of bye week hell. The reason for this is that Johnson might start to play like his normal self in December and could help you win your fantasy league in Weeks 15 and 16.

For now, you’re going to have to park Johnson on your bench and hope that you have picked up Kenyan Drake since he came over from the Miami Dolphins in a trade with the Cardinals. Otherwise, you must hope that the other running backs on your roster are going to get it done for you because Johnson hasn’t been getting it done for you for a very long time.
