The 2019 regular season has wrapped up, and now that the playoffs are set in stone, the first 20 picks in the 2020 NFL Draft are finalized.
Week 17 of the 2019 NFL regular season is in the books, and for 20 teams, that means their season has come to an end. It was a wild end to the regular season, as teams punched their ticket to the playoffs this past Sunday, while other teams went out with a whimper.
As most teams turn their focus to next April, here is our latest 2020 NFL mock draft.
Joe Burrow
Quarterback, Cincinnati Bengals
The Cincinnati Bengals clinched the No. 1 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft last weekend, so there was no reason to lose the game on Sunday at home against the Cleveland Browns. In fact, the Bengals took care of business against the Browns, dominating on both sides of the ball, in a game that ended up getting Browns head coach Freddie Kitchens fired.
When looking at this Bengals team this past season, one thing was very clear, that they continued to play hard under first-year head coach Zac Taylor. That is a great sign for this franchise moving forward, and with the No. 1 overall pick next April, they should bring in their new franchise quarterback.
There is no doubt that Joe Burrow from LSU is going to be the No. 1 overall pick next April, especially after seeing him go for eight touchdowns against the Oklahoma Sooners in the College Football Playoff on Saturday. The 2019 Heisman Trophy winner is a born leader, can make all the throws, and should be an excellent signal-caller on Sundays for years to come.
Chase Young
Edge, Washington Redskins
The Washington Redskins ended their sorry 2019 season with another loss, this time at the hands of division rival Dallas. When it comes to this franchise, there is certain to be a lot of changes this offseason, from player personnel, to the front office, and the first domino fell on Black Monday, as Bruce Allen was relieved of his duties.
One thing is for sure, this is a franchise that needs to start stacking talent, and they can do so with the No. 2 overall pick next April. With that early selection, look for Washington to add the best player available in this draft class, and that player is Ohio State edge rusher Chase Young, who has still yet to declare for the 2020 NFL Draft.
Young is a guy who can be a double-digit sack machine right away at the NFL level, having the kind of impact that we have seen from the likes of Nick Bosa in 2019. He plays with a high motor, is very coach-able, and for a Redskins team looking to change the overall culture of this organization, he could be a face of the future of this team.
