Fantasy Football, Green Bay Packers, San Francisco 49ers, Super Bowl

The San Francisco 49ers, led by running back Raheem Mostert ‘s four touchdowns, beat the Green Bay Packers, 37-20 in the NFC championship game.

Raheem Mostert, who started the fantasy football season as a reserve running back, had 29 carries for 220 yards.  He led a 49ers’ rushing attack that compiled 285 yards on 42 carries in the NFC Championship game Sunday,

San Francisco was so effective running the ball that quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo only attempted eight passes.  He completed six of those passes for 77 yards.

Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers had virtually no running attack and the Packers were behind 27-0 by halftime.  Rodgers did complete 31 out of 39 passes for 326 yards and two touchdowns, but he also threw two interceptions and was sacked three times for a total of 30 yards in lost yardage.

Though the 49ers utilized Mostert, Tevin Coleman and Matt Breida in their running game during the regular season, Garoppolo kept handing the ball off to Mostert, who seemed unstoppable in Sunday’s championship game. The fifth-year running back, who played college football at Purdue, had only 772 yards rushing during the regular season, but he also eight rushing touchdowns and caught two touchdown passes.

As expected, San Francisco’s offensive and defensive lines played well, the”O” linen opened gaping holes for the 49er running game and the “D” applied consistent pressure to Packer QB Aaron Rodgers.  The standout for Green Bay from  fantasy football point of view (POV) was wide receiver Davante Adams who caught nine passes for 138 yards.
