Jameis Winston calls his shot in farewell to Tampa Bay Buccaneers

NFL Free Agency, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

After Tom Brady said hello to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Jameis Winston said goodbye.

Tom Brady is in and Jameis Winston is out in Tampa Bay.

One day after the Buccaneers announced the six-time Super Bowl champion and former New England Patriots quarterback had officially signed on the dotted line, Jameis Winston said goodbye to the team and city that he called home since they drafted him with the No. 1 pick out of Florida State.

Winston posted a farewell letter to his social media accounts on Saturday morning and he even called his shot, saying he will see them in February.

Tampa Bay is the host city for Super Bowl 55 in February so he’s saying he’ll be guiding his new team to the Super Bowl against his former team.

Hey, the man can dream, right?!

The chances Brady can lead the Buccaneers to the Super Bowl are more likely than the alternative, but Brady will have to run through the gauntlet that is the NFC South and a loaded NFC to get there.

As for Winston, unless he’s backing up Patrick Mahomes in Kansas City or Lamar Jackson in Baltimore, it’s really hard to see a scenario where Winston is back in Tampa Bay this February at the Super Bowl unless he buys a ticket.

The free-agent market for Winston has been cool and he may not be able to find a job where he’s assured of being the starter next season. However, he could go the Ryan Tannehill route and sign as a backup somewhere and beat out the incumbent over the course of the season.

At the moment, teams are more inclined to trade for Nick Foles or sign Case Keenum for a modest sum than commit to Winston. With Joe Burrow, Tua Tagovailoa and Justin Herbert looking like locks for the first round of the NFL Draft, whoever ends up without a seat in the game of quarterback musical chairs could be calling Winston for an opportunity.
