Deshaun Watson dunks all over the Chicago Bears for taking Mitchell Trubisky over him

Deshaun Watson never once heard from the Bears ahead of the 2017 NFL Draft when they took Mitchell Trubisky. Watson reminded Bears fans of the blunder.

Deshaun Watson throws salt on an old wound.

The 2017 NFL Draft is one Chicago Bears fans would like to forget but Deshaun Watson won’t let them. Watson reminded Bears fans on Friday night that the team made an egregious mistake when they traded up from the No. 3 pick with the San Francisco 49ers to take Mitchell Trubisky with the No. 2 pick.

To make matters even worse, Watson reveals the Bears never once contacted him ahead of the draft.

“The bears NEVER ONCE talked to me,” Watson tweeted on Friday.

This tidbit of information only confirms the Chicago Bears general manager Ryan Pace did not do his due diligence. During draft night it was a wonder why the Bears passed on Watson and Mahomes in favor of trading up for the former North Carolina quarterback who had 13 career starts.

Waston was coming off leading Clemson to back-to-back NCAA national title game appearance, winning the second with a last-second comeback against Alabama. It’s why FanSided’s resident Bears fan, Patrick Schmidt, wrote after that game the Bears could not afford to pass him up.

Fast-forward to 2020. Watson has shown he’s one of the rising stars in the NFL and Trubisky may not even start for the Bears this year after they traded a fourth-round pick for Nick Foles. And then the Bears didn’t pick up Trubisky’s fifth-year option.

The Bears definitely missed their chance of drafting their franchise quarterback. With Watson, the Bears may have been Super Bowl contenders the past two seasons.

It’s going to be hard for Bears fans to forget about this malpractice by Pace who needed a quarterback but never even talked to a two-time Heisman finalist who was coming off one of the best National Championship Game performance in the history of the sport.

How Bears fans have any faith in Pace to make a decision for the betterment of the franchise is beyond me. How could anyone think Trubisky is a better quarterback than Mahomes and Watson.

Watson is still trying to figure that one out too.
