The Miami Dolphins top pick Tua Tagovailoa is already setting up charity outreach efforts the day after signing his first NFL contract.

Tua Tagovailoa is already giving back.

Tagovailoa was the fifth overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft and signed his rookie contract with the Miami Dolphins on Tuesday, May 12. A day after signing, he’s already committing to give back to those in need.

He announced his early plans for his community outreach via Twitter.

With this charity, Tagovailoa won’t be forgetting where he came from. He plans to give back to his home Hawaii and the state of Alabama, where he became an NCAA phenomenon at the University of Alabama. There, he threw the game-winning touchdown in overtime to help Alabama defeat Georgia in the National Championship Game as a true freshman in 2018, where he was also named the offensive MVP.

For the Dolphins, this outreach is a good sign of the type of character and person that Tua is. It is showing the Dolphins not only drafted their franchise quarterback but someone who is displaying leadership within the community. This type of leadership may only be the tip of the iceberg for what Tagovailoa can bring to the city of Miami. One thing that is certain, his NFL contract hasn’t changed Tagovailoa’s unselfish personality.

Via Twitter, Tagovailoa revealed he brought his mother a Cadillac Escalade for Mother’s Day. At Alabama, his parents were known for attending his games after moving the family to Tuscaloosa and being very supportive of his life decisions.

One of the biggest debates at the end of the college football last season was whether Tagovailoa should leave for the 2020 NFL Draft or stay for one final season in Alabama. A season-ending hip injury last season made experts wonder if he’d slip in this year’s draft. Another argument was if he did stay, while he could improve his draft stock he could risk yet another injury in college.

Tagovailoa entered the draft and was selected fifth overall. After signing his contract he solidified a dream come true. Still early, but it sure looks like Tagovailoa made the best decision. And his decision is going to better so many lives through his charitable endeavors.
