The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are voluntarily working out and Gronk is shredded!

These aren’t the Tampa Bay Buccaneers we’re used to.

Long gone are the days of playing pedestrian in pewter or cratering catastrophically in creamsicle. Tampa Bay is now the home of the “Tompa Bay Gronkaneers”, as former New England Patriots superstars Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski now call the Florida Gulf Coast home. Along with cornerback Sean Murphy-Bunting, this Mötley Crüe is putting in the work this offseason.

As you can see by this quartet of photos, Brady, Gronkowski and Murphy-Bunting are going full-blown “no risk it, no biscuit” with their voluntary workouts. The weather may be fantastic in Florida this summer, but we are in the middle of a global pandemic. As long as these swash-buckling pirates aren’t breaking any laws or local ordinances, they can get a workout in.

ESPN’s Jenna Laine who covers the Buccaneers tweeted the images out with the following caption, “The workouts continue for Tom Brady and Bucs teammates. The team isn’t officially commenting, but those I talked to in the organization feel as long as they’re not breaking any laws or ordinances, it’s up to them. Pics from Brady and Sean Murphy-Bunting’s Instagram.”

It’s a chaotic offseason for all football players, especially for one that has undergone as much changes as the Buccaneers have in the calendar year. Though Brady and Gronkowski are future Pro Football Hall of Famers, they are coming to an NFC South franchise that hasn’t made the postseason since Gronkowski was a senior in high school. 2007 is a very long time ago.

As long as social distancing precautions are made, there are no issues with players like Brady, Gronkowski and Murphy-Bunting getting a good workout in. The Buccaneers organization may not be in love with this, but players on teams all across the league have put voluntary workouts in place in the age of the coronavirus.

With an expanded playoff field, the Buccaneers have their best shot of qualifying for the first time in well over a decade. They do have stiff competition in the division, as the New Orleans Saints and the Atlanta Falcons could be vying for playoff spots as well. Even if the Carolina Panthers are rebuilding, we shouldn’t expect them to be an easy out under first-year head coach Matt Rhule.

The Buccaneers are embodying “no risk it, no biscuit” in seemingly every way this offseason.
