The final weekend of the NFL regular season is here, and three teams are fighting for a single playoff spot in the AFC picture.

Chicago Bears at Minnesota Vikings (-1)

The Vikings (10-5) are sitting everybody, locked into the sixth seed. The Bears (7-8) will actually try, and that’ll be just enough to finish off their miserable season with a win.

Pick: Chicago 20, Minnesota 16

Atlanta Falcons at Tampa Bay Buccaneers (PICK)

This is going to be fun. Jameis Winston is looking for 5,000 passing yards along with 30 touchdowns and 30 interceptions in a season. The Buccaneers (7-8) and Falcons (6-9) can both light it up. Should be a good time.

Pick: Tampa Bay 30, Atlanta 28

Miami Dolphins at New England Patriots (-15.5)

The Patriots (12-3) aren’t going to mess around. The Dolphins (4-11) will fight, but this is over by halftime.

Pick: New England 21, Miami 10

Green Bay Packers (-10) at Detroit Lions

If the Packers (12-3) win, they clinch a first-round bye. David Blough and the Lions (3-11-1) stand in the way. In other words, Green Bay has a bye.

Pick: Green Bay 27, Detroit 13

Cleveland Browns (-2.5) at Cincinnati Bengals

The state of Ohio should hold a moment of silence before this, in honor of everyone who cares about football.

Pick: Cincinnati 24, Cleveland 23

Los Angeles Chargers at Kansas City Chiefs (-8)

The Chiefs (11-4) are going to hammer the Chargers (5-10). Kansas City is in play for a bye, and the defense is giving up something like negative points per game over the last month. Tough swan song for Philip Rivers.

Pick: Kansas City 33, Los Angeles 16

New York Jets at Buffalo Bills (-1)

With the Bills (10-5) locked into the fifth seed, they’ll sit everyone. Can you believe the Jets (6-9) are going to win seven games?

Pick: New York 26, Buffalo 17

New Orleans Saints (-13) at Carolina Panthers

This won’t be pretty for the Panthers (5-10). They’ve been dead on arrival since Ron Rivera was fired. The Saints (12-3) are still playing for a bye week. They’ll roll.

Each week, FanSided looks at the Vegas Odds for each NFL contest and gets you prepared to wager on each and every game.

Early in the season this is a difficult proposition, as teams are starting to get their feet under them and we’re really starting to figure out who they are in terms of identity.

Typically, by Week 5 we have a pretty good understand of where every team stands and can confidently say what the outcome of most games will be.

But this year, it is a completely different story.

Nearly half of the league is .500 and from week-to-week, we have games like Bucs shredding the Rams 55-40 just one week after falling to the Giants by a point. Or the Ravens running over the league for the first two weeks of the season, and then giving up 40 points and getting blown out to a Browns team that was average 17 points per game before that.

Nonetheless – we’ll go through each game and discuss the which way you should wager if you’re putting money down on the Week 5 contests both on the betting line, and the over/under, based on the numbers at the Westgate Superbook. We’ve broken them up in to three categories: the best games to bet on this week, the games we’re somewhat on the fence about, and the games we think you should only bet if you feel the need to do so (or you have some inside information that the rest of us don’t!).

As October begins, the pretenders start giving way to the contenders. This week, the Green Bay Packers and Dallas Cowboys play in a high-stakes affair.

Everybody is allowed an off week, right?

I sure hope so, because my 6-9 record last week is the worst I’ve had in a long time. I’m ashamed. I know what I did.

I also know I have to make it right, and by God, I … really hope to make it right. Let’s do this.

Los Angeles Rams at Seattle Seahawks (-1.5)

Classic rebound game for Los Angeles (3-1). The Rams have to be mortified after allowing 55 points to the Buccaneers. While the Seahawks (3-1) are good, they’ve played nobody outside of the Saints, who they lost handily to. Prove it.

Pick: Los Angeles 26, Seattle 24

Arizona Cardinals at Cincinnati Bengals (-3.5)

I won’t make you read about this. The Bengals (0-4) are at home, and the Cardinals (0-3-1) couldn’t block 11 fans.

Pick: Cincinnati 31, Arizona 28

Atlanta Falcons at Houston Texans (-5)

No idea what happens. The Falcons (1-3) look terrible and Dan Quinn has half his office packed up. The Texans (2-2) forced three turnovers last week and still lost to Kyle Allen. Anything is possible.

Pick: Houston 24, Atlanta 23

Baltimore Ravens (-3.5) at Pittsburgh Steelers

If the Ravens (2-2) don’t win this game, they are sliding towards oblivion. For the Steelers (1-3), it’s another must-win. If Mason Rudolph pulls this out, Pittsburgh is suddenly in the AFC North conversation.

Pick: Baltimore 22, Pittsburgh 17

Buffalo Bills at Tennessee Titans (-3)

The Bills (3-1) should be getting more respect here. The Titans (2-2) are coming off a great win, but that offense is going to score enough on Buffalo? If Josh Allen is healthy, look for the road Bills to win a tight one. If it’s Matt Barkley, disregard everything I wrote.

With Josh Allen Pick: Buffalo 20, Tennessee 16
Without Josh Allen Pick: Tennessee 19, Buffalo 9

Week 4 of the 2019 NFL season has arrived. While it is still far too early for us to know who will be hoisting the Lombardi Trophy at Super Bowl LIV down in Miami in February, we can get a clearer picture of who’s good, who’s not and how we can bet against the spread.

On this week’s episode of Stacking the Box, FanSided‘s Matt Verderame and Josh Hill, along with former NFL offensive lineman Geoff Schwartz take a look at the odds for some of the more intriguing games of the Week 4 slate.

When the Green Bay Packers host the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday Night Football this week, Schwartz says he did put a wager on the Eagles under 20.5 points, citing quarterback Carson Wentz hasn’t played well this season and Green Bay has looked solid on defense through three weeks (11:10). Verderame will swallow the five points to take the Packers to cover at home.

For the Sunday Night Football game between the Dallas Cowboys and the New Orleans Saints, Verderame likes the Cowboys to cover the three-point spread on the road versus the Saints, citing the Cowboys’ defense as a deciding factor (12:40). Schwartz disagrees with Verderame and will take the Saints getting points at home in a “Pros vs. Joes” game.

In what should be a terrible Monday Night Football game between a pair of winless teams in the Cincinnati Bengals and the Pittsburgh Steelers, Schwartz wisely decides to pass on this game and if he had to pick something, he’s going with under 43.5 (14:19). Verderame says he’ll take the under because “Mason Rudolph is awful”. Here’s to some bad quarterback play in primetime!

In a battle of unbeaten teams in the AFC East, the Buffalo Bills will host the New England Patriots in Orchard Park. Schwartz wants to stay away from this game but does say that the Bills getting 7.5 points would be the move to make if you feel strongly about this one. (16:10). It’s hard to bet against the Evil Empire. Verderame will swallow the 7.5 to take New England on the road.

For the game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Detroit Lions, of course, Verderame is picking the Chiefs to cover the seven-point spread (17:50). This will be the first time Patrick Mahomes will have played in a dome in his NFL career, so look out, Lions. Schwartz is taking the Lions because getting seven points at home is a lot for a team that has a good receiving corps.

When the Seattle Seahawks take on the Arizona Cardinals, Schwartz is going to pass because he doesn’t trust either Arizona or Seattle at this point (21:20). Citing Schwartz’s cowardice to not bet on this game, Verderame will take Seattle to cover the five points on the road in Glendale in this division rivalry game out west.

Finally, when the Minnesota Vikings face their division rival in the Chicago Bears, Schwartz likes over 3.5 turnovers in the game but feels that under 38.5 is the best play here (23:45). Points will be at a premium here in what will probably be an ugly game. Verderame echoes Schwartz’s sentiment in over 3.5 turnovers and under 38.5 points. Neither is touching the three-point spread.

Overall, it seems that Verderame was more willing to take wagers on the points spreads this week, while Schwartz tended to find the best value in the over/under. If the Chiefs don’t cover the seven-point spread on the road versus the Lions, expect a Verderame Meltdown in the ensuing aftermath.
